We’ve created two new embroidery designs just in time for Mother’s Day. Our kits are easy enough for kids to make, so we asked our eight-year-old friend Darius to create one.

What you’ll need:

  • Mother’s Day Embroidery Kit
    or
  • 5-inch embroidery hoop
  • Piece of 100% cotton or Aida cloth
  • Ink jet printer
  • Butcher or freezer paper
  • Fabric scissors
  • Embroidery floss (we used red)
  • String or ribbon (optional)

STEP ONE

Center your hoop over the fabric and thread your floss to begin. For detailed instructions on this, refer to our Sweetheart Embroidery Kit Tutorial.

STEP TWO

Starting from the back, begin stitching around the pre-printed, dotted line.

STEP THREE

Once you’re finished, tie a double knot at the back and trim the excess thread. You can then trim the excess material around the hoop and tie a ribbon at the top of the hoop for hanging.
